SIMBA Translaiton Tool

SIMilarity-Based translation Aid – translation support tool with automatic search of similar segments and their translations
Main Features

• In line with the user’s selection translated segments are searched in the user’s database, in the global database or in both these resources.
• Automatically found translations are offered to the user
• Selected or entered translations are automatically saved thus eliminating the risk to lose the translation
• The user can work on the translation either directly in his brouser or in the Miicrosoft Office applications
• As the user keeps working with this resource the system gains knowledge thus improving its efficiency

Working with the tool
1. Open the tool by clicking on the SIMBA control on the Language Interface home page
2. Copy and paste your source text in the text field that opens when starting SIMBA and select the direction of translation (Russian->English or Englisht
3. Click Scan text button.
4. Begin translation from any phrase by clicking the arrow control > located to the left from the phrase.
5. If SIMBA finds exact or similar match it will show it in the textbox that opens under the source phrase. Exact match will be shown in green font. If more than one translation variant found, you can browse these variants by clicking on the horizontal arrow control .
5. To verify and edit the translation open both source and target texts in the same window. To do so click the > control (Unfold all) in the top area of the window.
6. The editor approves translated segments by checking the checkbox located to the left from the segment.
7. If you feel the translation is complete click Save.
6. Copy the translation and paste it to your document.
